Lecture MANIFESTING TRANSFORMATION by Jasmine Reimer

March 16, 2023, 10 am – 2 pm

Many thanks to the artist & writer Jasmine Reimer for her lecture Manifesting Transformation and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

… But I’ll keep following myself Elastic. This forest where I survive in order to be is such a mystery. But now I think things are happening. That is: I’m going in. I mean: into the mystery. I myself mysterious and inside the core in which I move swimming, protozoan. One day I childishly said: I can do everything. It was the previewing of one day being able to cast myself off and fall into the abandon of every law. Elastic. The profound joy: the secret ecstasy…

In my core I have the strange impression that I don’t belong to the human species.
– Clarice Lispector, Aqua Viva

Referencing Neolithic goddess mythology and selected texts on the sacred and profane, this presentation will consider how the artist contributes to and changes contemporary mythologies. Focused on the task of representing states of transformation, change, and fluidity, Jasmine will present past work and discuss the role of the artist as myth-maker.” (Text by courtesy of Jasmine Reimer)

Jasmine Reimer is a Canadian artist based in Berlin. In addition, Reimer writes art criticism, which can be found in Border Crossings Magazine, Peripheral Review, and most recently, Mousse.
