On Friday, we said goodbye to Joseph Walford, who attended the Studio Program Art Residency at BERLIN ART INSTITUTE during Blocks 03 & 04, running from March 02 to April 24, 2026.
During his residency, Joe mainly focused on painting. His artistic practice explores light, character, and texture through portraiture, combining visual sensitivity with a literary and cinematic perspective.
Joe is also a highly motivated linguist and aspiring screenwriter. Currently studying Spanish and German at the University of Oxford, he brings a strong interest in language, image, and narrative to his creative work. As both a cinephile and artist, he is particularly interested in language as a subject in art and film.
We thank Joseph for being part of the BAI Studio Program and wish him all the best for his future artistic and academic work.
