Nelly Corsten completed her one-block participation in the Studio Program Art Residency at BERLIN ART INSTITUTE from March 30 to April 24, 2026.
Born in Strasbourg, France, Nelly Corsten is a media artist whose practice moves between installation, film, performance, body, space, and material. Her early interest in drawing and painting later expanded into music, dance, video, and performance-based approaches.
She studied media art at HBK Saar in Saarbrücken and continued her studies at HfG Karlsruhe until early 2025. In her work, Nelly explores transformation, interpersonal relationships, and the connection between inner and outer worlds. A central aspect of her practice is the tactile dimension of art, including material processes such as knitting and crocheting.
During her residency at BERLIN ART INSTITUTE, Nelly began developing a new body of work around SCOBY – a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast.
We are grateful for Nelly’s contribution to the BAI Studio Program and wish her continued inspiration and success.
