Seminar TOPICS AND INSPIRATION? – USE YOUR IMAGINATION TO SHAPE YOUR CREATION! by Sascha Boldt

October 15 – 17, 2019, 10 am – 1 pm

Many thanks to the artist Sascha Boldt for his seminar Topics and Inspiration? – Use your Imagination to shape your Creation! and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School & Arts Incubator.

“Art needs starting points, sources of inspiration and imagination for creative processes. Restrictable topics provide the basis for formal decisions to tie them back, to make them more understandable, to imagine themselves in the worlds of ideas and to deliberately use design tools.

During the seminar, the participants should expand their level of knowledge to starting points of artistic topics. Questions in the context of artistic impulses such as “What are general topics?” – “What are personal topics?” – “What is my inspiration for which artistic outcome?” are summarized, analyzed and tested on the basis of tasks. Examples of wellknown artists with clearly identifiable and nameable themes form a mirror for the own intentions of the participants.

In practical exercises, the approaches, topics and sources of inspiration of the participants are circled and tested by attributions to real observation contexts in the BAI.

The findings developed in this process are intended to form the basis for making more conscious design decisions in the course future of artistic creations. It should thereby create the possibility of more conclusive artistic and content-related artistic results and to a more clearly recognizeable connection between “theme, inspiration, imagination and creation” in the daily work process.“ (Text by courtesy of Sascha Boldt)
