Many thanks to the artist Michelle-Marie Letelier for her lecture ON NATURAL RESOURCES, THEIR GEOPOLITICS AND MATERIALITIES and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

“In this talk, I present an introduction to my artistic practice, which is based on long-term research and multidisciplinary collaborations around specific, so-called „natural resources“: copper, coal, saltpetre, salmon and, more recently, slime. Departing from my biographical background having lived in one of the biggest open-pit copper mines in the world, my practice has been rendered by a reflection on extractivist canons and the ambivalent circumstances that these bring to local sea- and landscapes. These reflections have attuned with ecological and scientific matters, as well as humans / more-than-humans relations. My last output Salm Ethos, is a role play turned into an interactive theatrical performance using sound and hydrogels. My interest now is to expand these methodologies with the use of other technologies & presentation formats, further researching into bio-materials.” (Text by courtesy of Michelle-Marie Letelier)
