Many thanks to the artist Patricia Lambertus for her lecture Immersive Spatial Staging And Digital Image Concepts and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

“Starting with the archaeological finds of the wall paintings in Pompeii and moving on to stately spatial stagings of castles all the way to augmented reality (AR) – the lecture examines spatial and visual strategies that have manifested themselves in contemporary installations. The focus here is on “immersion” in spatial images. How does an illusionary space work? What purposes do representative spaces fulfill and what do they look like?

Inspired by historical models, procedures are illustrated here that lead to a site-specific artistic realisation. Using digital tools, traditional techniques are reinterpreted and new visual worlds are constructed. The result is both a new reality and an “augmented reality” (AR). The following questions will be discussed: How does research influence the visual language? What power do images have? Can images specifically trigger emotions? How does visual language work in the digital world?” (Text by courtesy of Patricia Lambertus)
