Lecture HOW CONTEMPORARY ART CHANGES THE SPACE PERCEPTION by Patricia Lambertus

February 13, 2020, 10 am – 2 pm

Many thanks to the artist Patricia Lambertus for her lecture How contemporary art changes the space perception and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School & Arts Incubator.

Every day we move in a wide variety of spaces – in architectural, geographical, private, public, social, media and virtual spaces. Site-specific installations absorb the locations for which they are created and transform it into a total work of art, thereby changing one’s own perception of this place.

Ahead of this artistic setting is the exploration of the space. What do architectural features look like, how do the atmospheric qualities feel and what exactly is the historical and social context of the place? Only then can the appropriation of space take place, which makes the place appear in a different light. Various strategies are explained on the basis of individual installations, from the first idea to implementation.” (Text by courtesy of Patricia Lambertus)
