Many thanks to the CrossCulture Intern Syed Ali Abbas providing a comprehensive insight into the programs of his home organization NGO Aurat Raaj and his own creative work. For his internship at LSVD, Germany’s biggest Gay and Lesbian Federation in Cologne, he got a scholarship for participating in the CrossCulture Internships Program (CCP) of ifa (Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations) including a short term participation in the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School & Arts Incubator.
Aurat Raaj is a digital platform for Pakistani women and its employing a holistic approach to change the perception of the value of Pakistani women at the individual, community andinstitutional levels; foster an enabling environment for women’s education; and engage and equip them to make life decisions and important contributions to society.
“The CCP program enables participants to gain international experience abroad and to act as multipliers in their home countries. Besides being able to develop professionally and functionally, participants also gain an insight into the social and political structures of the host country and make new contacts which can be useful for working partnerships when they return to their home country. This exchange promotes cross-border dialogue between people, countries and organisations, and permanently reinforces the networks between organisations in Germany and the other countries involved.” (Text by courtesy of ifa)
