Seminar PAINTING – THE ART OF PROTECTING FLAT SURFACES FROM THE WEATHER AND EXPOSING THEM TO THE CRITIC by Frederik Foert

September 22 – 24, 2020, 10 am – 1 pm

Many thanks to the artist Frederik Foert for his seminar Painting – The Art Of Protecting Flat Surfaces From The Weather And Exposing Them To The Critic (Ambrose Bierce, demons dictionary, 1912) and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

“Art practice as a concept. Thru all art history there were more emotional and more rational styles. What is our motivation to get creative? Why do we do what we do? What is the difference between art and pure depiction of reality or illustration and how has it changed over the centuries? Is art also science or are artists just a neat appendage to society? Based on their own artistic practice, the seminar tries to analyze the drive and approach of all participants. The aim is to question your own routine and to think outside the box for the duration of the seminar, in a practical task e.g. to try out a new media or approaches and to discuss them together.” (Text by courtesy of Frederik Foert)
