Many thanks to the artist Marte Eknæs for her lecture SITUATION SPECIFICITY AND FLEXIBLE FORMS and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.
“The lecture will consist of two closely related parts. The first part focuses on my sculptural work and projects I describe as situation specific. Looking at a selection of works, I will discuss my approach to materials, understanding of context and collaborations. Behind all these different aspects of my practice, lies an idea of the art work as a part of a system or as a system in itself.
This opens up to the second half of the talk, in which I will present the online platform formsofflexibility.space (FOF) that I founded in 2019. Bringing together formal investigations and research from the field of art, architecture, public space and the natural sphere, this platform hosts ideas of the material and immaterial, spanning the spectre from rigid to the flexible to the formless. In a simultaneous and connected effort, FOF works to disentangle flexibility from the market economy and further its potential as a tool for alternative solutions and as resistance.” (Text by courtesy of Marte Eknæs)
