Many thanks to the critic, curator & artist Andreas Schlaegel for his seminar “Post-post-post-Internet Art or Connectivity and Beyond” and discussing the works of our participants.
“The world-encompassing connectivity provided by the internet and mobile devices has left a distinct mark on our lives. Any given time one observes a group of people, several will be scanning their smart phones, searching for information, texting with loved ones, updating their status, liking stuff or simply combatting boredom. What does this mean for artists and artworks? Should art today fit onto the screen of a smartphone, or should we look at art as a way to escape constant connection?
In this seminar, we will look at artworks, artists and exhibitions that have attempted to tackle this conundrum. From this observation we will focus on examining how the production of a work of art has changed through new technologies over time, and develop individual artistic strategies to reflect on the constantly shifting social, economic and technological relations and dependencies contemporary artists have been and still are subjected to.” (Andreas Schlaegel)
