Many thanks to the artist Larissa Fassler for her lecture Walking to Drawing — Mapping Power, Memory, and Public Space Through Artistic Practice and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program Art Residency at BAI.
“From Walking to Drawing traces how Larissa Fassler’s artistic practice transforms embodied movement through public space into complex visual forms. Drawing on over two decades of work, the talk explores how walking, measuring, observing, and recording urban sites such as train stations, plazas, and monuments become the foundation for large-scale drawings and sculptures. Fassler will discuss how these works map the social, political, and emotional forces embedded in architecture and everyday life, revealing public space as a site where power, memory, and inequality are both enacted and experienced.” (Text by courtesy of Larissa Fassler)
