June 12, 2015, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm
Walk-through & Briefing, Get-together & Quino.bar with the BAI Guest Lecturers Manfred Schneider, Prof. Thaddäus Hüppi, Susanne Ring, Prof. Julia Brodauf, Doris Marten, Julia Neuenhausen, Ann Schomburg, Kai Teichert and Christian Schwarzwald
We want to mention two sources which inspired and motivated us when developing the concept for the BAI. On the one hand a survey by Frieze Magazine 2013 including statements and sketches from 30 contributors about the topic Does Berlin Need a New Art School?
On the other hand the history of the legendary Black Mountain College. The interdisciplinary and experimental methods and community-based forms of learning and living had a profound influence upon the artistic and social transformations of the 1960s and are still relevant today. On June 4, 2015 the exhibition Black Mountain. An Interdisciplinary Experiment, 1933–1957 opened at Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart in collaboration with the Freie Universität Berlin and the Dahlem Humanities Center.
Location: BERLIN ART INSTITUTE, An der Industriebahn 12-16, Building 404, Studio A
