“The focus of this seminar is the relationship of art and public. Art without an audience – Would that even be possible? Only in the interplay with viewers, artworks often start unfolding their full effect. In addition to the work itself, an important role comes to aspects such as presentation, location and timing. Thus a work might not necessarily find completion in the studio, but maybe only after going to the public or even later through external influences – just think of Ai Weiwei’s wooden doors tower that collapsed at Documenta 12 in the storm.
Following the presentation of our work, the participants of the BAI will have the possibility to discuss their work, regarding possible means of production and reception, in joint studio visits. Lightened up by some finger exercises this course will help you to define or consolidate your own position.” (VARIOUS & GOULD)
