„In 2016 Daniel Borzutzky published “The Performance of Becoming Human,” a poetry collection the title of this lecture very obviously paraphrases. It remains an inspiration, a light, a guide. I think about it often when thinking about my practice and so it seems natural I should introduce my practice through the tropes and metaphors Borzutzky’s poems can generously offer. Similarly to him, I have an affinity with thinking utopian. I find it important as a political project—to continuously imagine, and reimagine, the reality, or the multitude of realities, the possibilities of making change, to reimagine changing. I’m also fond of this emphasis on humanness. I like to think of it as the soul and the currency of my performances, poems and music, some of which I will share and ask: how to flow with the movement of being in and out of sync with one’s humanness? How to err on the side of humanness? How to commit to the poetry of becoming human?“ (Text: Courtesy Wojciech Kosma)
