“GALA is a group exhibition with students, graduates and lecturers from the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin (Weißensee art academy Berlin) as a retrospective of the annual student exhibitions and the final show exhibition cool runnings. Young positions start a direct artistic dialogue with each other and with their lecturers. Thanks to the serie of exhibitions in the KUNSTHALLE Hamburger Platz, the young artists have extensive experience of exhibiting their work, however, this is the first cooperation with a commercial gallery. Paintings, photography and sculptures are exhibited alongside installation, performances and work spanning various media.
With GALA, galerie burster has created a new exhibition series which is showing the works of young artists from the art academies in Berlin. This format will be continued in alternate years by the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Weißensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. During the BERLIN ART WEEK an expert jury will award the …wie la Romana Prize to one of the participating students. This prize is an annual grant which is donated by Dr. Agnieszka Korfel.”
