Seminar ART HACKS: INSPIRED BY THE EVERYDAY! by Ann Schomburg

December 20 – 21, 2022, 10 am – 1 pm

Many thanks to the artist Ann Schomburg for her seminar Art Hacks: inspired by the everyday! & discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

“In the seminar “Art Hacks: inspired by every day!” Schomburg gives an insight into her work and, together with participants from the Berlin Art Institute, examines which inspirations are the foundation that inspires an artist to start a piece.

Schomburg’s oeuvre oscillates between a playful approach and a research-based deepening of a topic that she encountered in her everyday life: For example, a temporary cohabitation with a skunk becomes the starting signal for a performance that critically examines how men and women deal privately and a conversation about online dating for a staged dating show, “the Boyfriendcasting.” An arrangement based on Schomburg’s observations on personal branding and marketing for the dating market and that she takes to extremes in her staging.” (Text by courtesy of Ann Schomburg)

Ann Schomburg (*1984) lives and works in Berlin. Schomburg is working on strategies of infiltration to given structures by adapting the logic of the specific system.
