Many thanks to the artist Patricia Lambertus for her lecture Digital Painting and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School & Arts Incubator.
“My digital visually powerful spatial pictures move in the tension between fiction and reality as well as beauty and destruction. The field of research that I am working on is “the fascination of violence” and “the lust for power” in their medial and everyday manifestations. The extension of painting into the digital domain allows me to superimpose various layers of my own photos, appropriations from art history and media images within the pictorial space so that they can be read like archaeological stratigraphies, the layering science with which fund horizons are analyzed and dated.
For my work, it is particularly important to track down historical events and their relationships as well as their relevance and resonance in the present and to implement them artistically. My interest here is the fractures, cracks and interfaces.” (Text by courtesy of Patricia Lambertus)
