“Objects, which artists collect are often neither exotic nor precious. Mostly they are part of everyday life or routine. There is a connection to primeval collecting as well as to the psychological form of collecting as a way of resistance to the passing of time.
The artistic practice of collecting is a materialized associating – not a mere creation of stock or sorting out the trash. It is at the same moment revealing the paradoxes and dark sides of the material, materialized world.
Silvia Lorenz presents artworks, collections and artist collectors, forms of storage and transformation – including own works and other artists‘ positions. We will also get to know some collecting habits of the BAI participants, including practical challenges.” (Text by courtesy of Silvia Lorenz)
