Many thanks to the gallery owner Christian Nagel introducing our participants to the gallery concept, program and history of NAGEL DRAXLER Gallery and guiding us through the exhibitions Smart Obedience by Abdulnasser Gharem & The Immaterial and the Flesh by Elliott Jamal Robbins at NAGEL DRAXLER Kabinett. The visit is part of the BAI Studio Program | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.

Abdulnasser Gharem lives and works in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he encourages new artistic talents. Gharem was feted in the magazine Rolling Stone as the “rock star” of Saudi contemporary art. Gharem has exhibited in Europe, the Gulf and the USA, including at Gropius-Bau Berlin, the LACMA, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum as also on the Venice, Sharjah and Berlin Biennales.
The Immaterial and the Flesh marks the first solo exhibition with Elliott Jamal Robbins at Nagel Draxler Kabinett, and the first solo exhibition for the artist outside of the United States of America. Robbins, born 1988 in Oklahoma City, lives and works in Tucson, Arizona.
