“The exhibition and network platform BERLIN MASTERS is dedicated to promote young artists under 30 years of age living and working in Berlin. The Berlin Masters Foundation is responsible for the organisation. Initiated by art expert Matthias Arndt, BERLIN MASTERS has been held annually since 2013 as part of Berlin Art Week. In 2017, the project was transferred to the non-profit “Berlin Masters Foundation”.
The TOY BERLIN MASTERS AWARD, donated by art collectors Monique and Max Burger, is dedicated to the loss of Yves Biggoer-Burger (1988-2011), the son of Monique and Max Burger. The name TOY stands as a loving memory for Thinking Of Yves.
CURATOR Philipp Bollmann has been responsible for the project’s curatorial concept and artist selection since 2016. He is strategically advised and accompanied by the foundation and board of trustees. This advisory board includes: art collector Florian Peters-Messer, publisher Uta Grosenick, art collectors, Monique Burger and Heiner Wemhöner, artist Gregor Hildebrandt, gallery owner Johann König and editor-in-chief of Weltkunst Lisa Zeitz. The Berlin Masters Foundation and its Advisory Board Members select the winning artist.” (Excerpt from the press releaese by courtesy of Berlin Masters Foundation)
