Many thanks to the artist Silvia Lorenz for her seminar Cosmic Puzzle and discussing the works of our participants within the Studio Program at BAI | Berlin Artist Residency, Art School, Arts Incubator, and Live Online Courses & Classes.
“The gathering and the attempt to assemble individual parts or fragments of an unknown whole may describe the entire cosmos as a picture. Certainly it describes one’s own life or existence, numerous games and multiple variants of artistic practice.
While popular games are about achievable solutions, we ourselves fill social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram as endlessly growing pools of individual puzzle categories. Artistic works rather refer to the illusion of a solution (or of “a” valid solution), to the gaps and flaws in the “system”.
In the seminar we will consider and discuss two and three-dimensional puzzle possibilities from different areas. Using her own work and other artistic positions, Silvia Lorenz will present individual techniques and supplement them with practical exercises.” (Text by courtesy of Silvia Lorenz)
