Class Introduction: Jasmine will introduce herself, her practice, and the general approach and objectives of the class.
Presentation 1:“Bodies, Gender and Labor Before Capitalism” Jasmine will lead a visual presentation with opportunities to ask questions and discuss throughout
Topic Summary:
Brief introduction to pre-capitalist society in Europe
Labor and gender relations in European pre-capitalist societies
The regulation and mechanization of the body
The transformation of the role of women and her labor/production
The creation of gender divisions and difference
In-class Exercise 1:Group Writing Prompts
Jasmine will offer a series of prompts from presentation and related texts
Participants will be asked to write based on the prompts for set periods of time
During the writing period, Jasmine will provide further instruction
The exercise will be followed by a short discussion of the outcomes/experience
In-Class Exercise 2:Cluster Writing 1
Reflect on the class topics in relation to your practice, existing ideas and/or research questions.
Write and/or draw your responses in your notebook/sketchbook. Write or draw as much as you feel necessary to communicate your ideas and/or questions.
When you are finished, title the entry “Cluster 1
