WEEK 4: Conclusion: Futuring otherwise
In this final session, we will reflect on prevailing cultural narratives of the future (often marked by climate collapse, conflict, and dystopia) and explore counter-narratives that offer generative alternatives. Drawing on the work of thinkers such as Rebecca Solnit and a range of contemporary artists, we will consider how artistic imagination can offer tangible tools for envisioning futures rooted in interconnection, material potential, and planetary responsibility. The course will close by revisiting the divergent trajectories proposed by posthumanism and transhumanism, unpacking the systems of inclusion and exclusion they engender, and the ways artists are critically responding to them.
