WEEK 4: Story Lines

BAI Online Course DRAWING by Dagmara Genda Week4

Lecture

Images have the potential to tell stories and drawings have been better known for this than almost any other type of image. Illustrations are often drawings rather than paintings. But is a story told by a drawing always a sequence of images? Can rhetorical structures be used to organize or understand a drawing? Using examples of asemic writing, diagrams and graphic scores, the lecture will introduce different ways in which images draw out time-based narratives.

Discussion and the selection of assignments

Participants will have uploaded their projects and we will discuss them one by one. Feedback will be given on the assignment itself and participants can also react to each others’ work.

To end the eCourse we will discuss what worked and didn’t work in the course.
