Many thanks to the artists Silvia Lorenz & Aleksandar Jestrović (Jamesdin) for their seminar “HEAD OVER HEELS” and discussing the works of our participants.
“In the workshop we will use light weight materials, taken from everyday life – cardboard wrappings, posters, plastic bottles, drinking straws, duct tape, cable ties … – to work in three dimensions. The quality of these materials suggests a rough, quick and improvised approach to the topic: heads and masks.
The head and the mask – as abstraction of the face – are two of the most basic yet challenging topics of sculpture. The head is maybe the most characteristic and complex shape of the whole human body, whereas masks are by nature combining aspects of spirit, material and transformation.” (Silvia Lorenz & Aleksandar Jestrović)
