Many thanks to the artist Nikola Röthemeyer for her workshop introducing our participants to “EXPERIMENTAL DRAWING – translations into drawing-language” during the basic course.

We commence with a series of graphic experiments and self-imposed boundaries. Sensing, feeling, inventing and remembering, we create the drawn line – blindfolded, odd-handed and headfirst.

We continue our experiments with a range of unfamiliar drawing utensils. Branches, feathers, needles and thread, a toothbrush or sponge are used to invent exciting translations for commonplace structures. Broccoli, onions, red cabbage and pepper will be transformed into graphic landscapes.

We observe, explore and make up the everyday, create landscapes of the mind and thereby sensually and experimentally broaden the vocabulary of our personal drawing-language.” (Nikola Röthemeyer)
